945 T-Wagon...light noise what seems to be behind dash..... 900

Out driving the new 945T Wagon this evening and I noticed an ever so slight little noise which seems to be coming from behind the dash. It's weird. The PO stated that he thought it was pre-ignition pinging as wife put regular in the car. I have not had it long enough to need fuel yet, but this just doesn't seem to be the kind of "pinging" I've heard in the past in other cars, and it just doesn't seem to be coming from the correct place. It seems to be emanating from the drivers side of the firewall area, I think behind the dash. Oddly enough, it is present during some acceleration, but ONLY when the acceleration is very very light, or occasionally in a very mild deceleration. Never does it appear when I'm accelerating in earnest. I do not drive the car hard at all, and only have engaged the turbo into boost area from time to time. I can't figure this noise out. To some extent it kind of sounds like a speedometer cable in its sheath, but why only under MILD acceleration or MILD deceleration? I will check the timing in the next couple of days, and certainly use premium as I do in all my cars anyway. I'm preparing to also change spark plugs and intend on using Bosch Platinum. I'm sure there are those of you who have opinions on these plugs, and many of whom will recommend using nothing but stock. I'm all ears as I have not opened the plugs yet, but I have had great success with the Platinums in the years past. Finally, I suspect that the cam seal is leaking as there is oil which lightly drips from behind the timing belt cover and coats the water pump. It drips down around the front of the pan too, so I guess I'll be changing at least that seal if not all of them as a precautionary measure. Anyone that wants to see this car can go to the site included here. It's a pretty car and I think most will be impressed. The interior is frankly unbelievable as is under the hood and all other areas as aspects of the car. I'd love to have your thoughts and feedback. Thanks to all who have helped out so far, I've been very impressed with the outstanding loyalty to this maker and the kindness and sharing of the devotees here on the BB. Thanks to all for making this a very pleasant experience so far.

Sincerely,

JB
