Gas gauge problem 200

Recently my gas gauge has been reading wrong. A full tank reads 3/4 and a red zone reading is still about a third full.

I pulled the sender and hooking it up and grounding it, the fully raised float reads 3/4. A fully lowered float reads below red. It appears to be an increased resistance problem.

How does one adjust to get a proper reading?
