AC sealer not good for the system? AC experts, Please comment! 200 1991

Hi! The AC (retrofitted for R134) of my 1991 245 SE would run out of refregirant in a few months. I have charged it twice. The Autopart store recommend R134 recharge cans with sealer in it. Saying that small leak would be sealed up. An AC mechanic, however, strongly oppose using it. Saying that the sealer will also sealed up small passages such as the expansion valve.

What do you think??? Thanks!
