I finally had enough and ripped the temperature compensating board out today. My temp gauge was reading a bit high and the "slam your fist on the dashboard" technique wasn't working anymore.

One thing for you all to watch out for. When soldering the jumper across pins 1 and 3 where the board was, I ended up overheating the circuit board and destroying the connection from the pin to the board. DOH!!!! These connections are very delicate.

I ended up having to scratch some of the coating away over the circuit board trace lines to get to some good metal and solder the jumper.

Everything is working now, although this car will never have a temperature compensating board again, which is fine with me. This part is right up there with the air box thermostat in terms of its uselessness and propensity to fail.
