90 240 wagon won't start 200 1990

my wifes 240 wagon wont start. turns over but thats it.. after cranking the engine and releasing the key, engine sounds like it wants to catch for a minute. while cranking the only noise is the starter motor turning the engine over - no attempt to fire or start..

attempted to jump just in case the battery was weak - same results.

could the coil be bad?? Distributer and roter look good.. weather was in mid 40's and a little damp from yesterdays rain.. this evening temp in low 40's dry all day.

MAFS & spark arrester were replaced last Feb (03)...

Anything I can try before I have it hauled to the shop??
