Last week I had my front wheel bearings replaced on my `93 245. My problem is that I have had a fading brake pedal since the work has been done. The car does come to a stop, but the pedal intermittently goes to almost full travel when depressed. When I feel the pedal beginning to fall, I can quickly pump it a few times to get proper "pressure" in the pedal.
Our first assumption was that the master cylinder failed. I pumped up the brakes myself after the bearings were installed. I accidentaly depressed the brake pedal to full travel while doing this which can be a no-no on an old master cylinder. So, we replaced the master cylinder but the problems still existed.
Today, we put the car back up on the rack and did a complete flush/bleed of the braking system with a brake bleeding machine.....still, fading pedal.
There are no visible brake fluid leaks and this car had new stainless steel braided brake lines installed a few months ago. The rear brake pads are new and the front pads are in great shape. Any ideas to what may be causing this?? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
