Thoughts and ideas about my new 145 140-160

As some of you might know, I just bought a 1972 145 wagon for $125. A wire was broken on the points, I replaced the points, and it started right up; even started right up when it was -4 below zero. I drove it last weekend, and it ran fine, and then I took it to Rob the Mechanic, and he drove it, did some lubing, and a general check over, then returned it to me.

As soon as I got the car back, with 24 hours, I noted a very slight ""flat spot" in it when I called on the car. Idling I did not notice it. Last night it was way worse, missing, and bucking when I drove it on the freeway. I am thinking, given that the car originally sat for 6 months that the problem could be a fouled fuel filter. I have filled the nearly empty tank when I bought the car, and filled it once again, and I was thinking that perhaps I have stirred up some sediments in the gas tank. Rob the Mechanic had the same situation happen with a 164 he had that sat for a long period of time.

Obviously, I am hoping that the problem is not the FI. It seems odd that the car ran beautifully, and has gotten progressively worse. I will get the car jacked up tomorrow and check the fuel filter, and if it is fouled, replace it and perhaps put another one in the line as a back-up.

I guess I am wondering if anyone else has any ideas as to what is happening. Of course, if the doubled up fuel filteer thing does not work, the FI system will have to be scoped and checked, as well as the electrical systems that support the FI.

It is winter here in Minnesota, and I need to to get this car up and running. I can't drive the 544 in the cold weather, both in terms of preserving it, and the fact the heater is terrible in it.
