Hi Guys,
Question: How is the heater control unit illuniated? How best to service this unit to replace the bulbs within it?
The story:
A visual inspection of the lighting for the center control panel on a well maintained 82 242 suggets that the buttons for the heater control unit --- located in the very center of the center dash panel --- is not illuminated by the light strip illuminating the other controls on the right and left of it.
By this I mean that the light in the strip appears to be good and illuminates the controls on each side of the heater controls. However, this unit is not illuniated which is a real problem on dark nights in bad weather when I need to get to the controls (it directs air to the windshield or floor, etc).
This suggests --- as a volvo parts person indicted might be the case --- that the heater control unit has an illumination bulb internal to it. Does anyone have any practical experience with this unit who can comment on this?
For example, is the unit illuminated from within? Do you have any tips or tricks for removing this unit (if this is necessary) and/or for replacing the bulbs within it? Thanks.
Regards, Dave
