Well fellow volvoers this may start a title wave of posts from me But I hope not. and please Know that I have reald thrrough all the FAQ's that I could find on the subject befor bringing my questions to this forum..
My question here is that I need a new wheel bering for the front of my car and I know that the ABS bearing costs $287 and must be ordered and purchaced at the big D (dealership) ((a word I don't like to use often)). However I can and did pick up one from NAPPA for $150 but it is not an ABS model. I have never been a big fan of ABS ever since my first volvo 245 DL in 1978 - it just had good brakes who needs to imporve on them (I grew up in a lot of snow and find ABS to be a hinderence more times than not , HOw ever it can be helpful at time)
I was wondering if I could just disconect my ABS sensor and the system and juse the cheaper bearing?
and my second question is for the real gurus out there. My car is a 89 and theat was the trandsfer year for moving from seperate bearings to a closed bearing. How did the ABS work on the split bering systems and I know my was retro fitted with a cclosed bering system later?
Also if the answers to my first two questions are simple. Where Do I go on the brick board to replace my wheel bearing . My haynes book has nothing. to say
thanks Ceephis.
