Nivomat conversion kit 700

Is it possible to have Nivomat converted to a more normal shock/spring setup? I've seen the webpage where the 2nd lieutenant converted it himself. I'm no mechanic, so my question is can I have it done? Is there a conversion kit available yet that my mechanic can install? I've herd contrary information about this... Thanks for input.
