Loud clunking in middle of car

1988 740 GLE 8V nonturbo auto 225k miles

For some time now, my volvo has been making a loud clunking noise from the centre of the car. It only happens while I'm driving. It gets louder as I accelerate and stops when I coast. Could it be the tailshaft bushing?

Also, The camshaft seal started leaking oil on to the exhaust. The seal was replaced by a relative...it still leaks.
