What's the difference between these brake pads? 200

Just replaced front brake pads; ordered the same aftermarket pads from same reliable supplier but pattern is different. Looks like I've got maybe only 80% of the braking surface of the older versions. Please see picture attached. Anyone seen this type before? Or know if they're safe enough?

[Top one is the new one, bottom is the older, the difference is the new bevelled outer edges wherease the old one is flat]
