Headlights on lowbeam 700

Lowbeams only come on on the passenger side until I turn on the highbeams...and then the lowbeam on the driver's side comes on and the lowbeam on the passenger side turns off. This is on an 85 740GLE. Is there a switch or a relay I need to check? Help, please!?
