Is it possible to use a 740 heat/ac control unit in place of 760 ACC...? 700 1987

Still considering this 760T even tho helpful suggestions say they can be a pain to maintain...

If the ACC is bad in there wouldn't it be possible to put a 740 control in place of the ACC unit in the 760?

just thought some of you may have tried that.
