More juice? 200 1980

Hi all!

I've been driving my 80GT for three or four months, I guess, and I'm hooked. Big time. Minor suspension repairs/tweaks and some good discount tires have got the handling pretty sweet. Brakes are fine, no complaints. I love the transmission. Interior/body/paint/stereo/HVAC all in good shape.

But I could sure use another 20-40 HP. At this point, I've got the timing set to about 15BTDC initial, swapped in an A-cam, removed the small diameter snorkel from the front of the intake tube... and that's about it. It runs great, gets decent (17 mixed city/hwy) mileage, and pulls plenty strong through first and second gear to maybe 5,000RPM. Third and fourth are scary endeavors, makes merging on the freeway a serious planning issue.

I know this has been beat up ad naseum, but what can I do for more juice? All I can think of is a B230FTi swap from a 7 series, but that's a lot of work and expense, and I sorta have other projects to deal with.

Thanks for any input...
