drivers door wont lock or unlock (ALL OTHERS DO) 200

I live in Canada and i took my '87 240DL (Sedan) to the car wash. Now when i unlock the the doors from the drivers side it unlocks, but will not relock wheter by key or [pushing from the inside. Randomly it will lock but then it will not relock after that. For now i am climbing through the pass door so my car stays locked. What it the dealio??
