I am getting tired of nursing along my 1991 745 turbo and in my impatience was perusing cars on Ebay and found a beautiful red 1999 V70XC (wagon, turbo, 5 cylinder, 190 hp, outstanding condition, 67000 miles - here is the link - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31880&item=2455385677&ssPageName=STRK:MEBWA:IT)
and managed to hit "buy it now" before I was really sure I wanted to do that. I am committed to buying the car but haven't put any money on it yet, so I suppose I could get out of it with a negative feedback. Once I realized what I had done I realized what a beauty the car is and thought, "What the hell, I might as well go for it," but then I got buyer's remorse today and am beset with ambivalence and waffling over the decision. Help!!!
Now I am in a bit of a bind in that I really find the car attractive but it would involve a loan for its selling price of $14,500 + tax and all of a sudden my 1991 turbo wagon is looking better to me. The 1991 is in excellent cosmetic condition, red, no dents or rust, no tears or cracks in the black leather, just an oil leak (rear main seal) and a need for new oil delivery tube o-rings to remedy the problem with a flickering oil pressure light at idle (which is a major repair for this diy-er).
What do you all know about the 1999 V70 Cross Country ? Consumer Reports, darn them, list it as a used car to avoid, but what do they know? They don't like Volvos much anyway - there isn't a single one on their recommended used car list!
As always, I would appreciate advice and input. Thanks everyone. I have to decide by tomorrow, Friday, 1/30, so hurry up (please) and give me your thoughts.
