Nivomats gone 900 1997

I just looked under my 1997 960 and it seems the previous owner replaced the Nivos with something else - small black shocks without a boot. This is good news as I assume the springs have also been changed as the car sits perfectly level. I want to replace these shocks with something larger and better quality but what part number do I look up? For what model Volvo? Earlier 960 or 740? my local shock shop doesn't have a clue what to order.
