Family time vs. Brick time 700 1991

I have been thinking of bailing on my brick-hobby because it takes too much time and I am sufficiently OCD (obsessive-compulsive) that I can't bear any "issue" with my two 740's. So, any feedback on balancing time with brick vs. time with family? Anyone else have problems with garage time vs. wife/kids time?

For those who may have seen my previous post, I decided not to bail on my 745 turbo. I test-drove an exquisite-looking 1999 V-70XC yesterday, and lo and behold, there was a clanging sound from underneath when cornering...turns out it was a loose driveshaft, and that was enough to scare me away. I returned to my 745 and felt like I was coming back to a familiar friend.

So, my wife wants to know, "How long are you gonna keep that thing going, anyway?" She is trying to get me to get rid of it and get a low-maintenance car that will give me more time with her and our baby (she suggests a Subaru Forester, because Consumer Reports loves them). Reasonable concern, I guess. If I weren't such a perfectionist, I guess I would have more time!
