What years are the same?? 200 1987

My daughter has a 87 240dl wagon with a four cyl-4spd manual trans. The car has issues and we would like to get her something the same but in better overall shape keeping this one for parts. What years would be compatable? Thanks for any info or guidance. She has a 2 yr old and a 3 mo old that gramps would like to keep safe. I will be doing the repairs and maintenance for her. Once again thanks for any help.
