Heater core flushing advice 700

I believe I have a partially obstructed heater core. The heat is poor at idle but better when the car is moving (more circulation from the water pump?). I checked the inlet hose to the core is hot but the outlet is much cooler.

I was planning on flushing the heater core only. Is a hose only usually sufficent or is a chemical treatment usually needed? I recieved the most recent IPD newsletter recommending using a drain king contraption to power flush the core. Anyone try this?
