here is the deal... I was having a rough idle, so I cleaned throttle body and IAC. I try to adjust the TPS but could hear no audible click.
I set it as close as I could and it runs. it still has a stumble coming off accelaration, in idle.
today I decide to go step by step and set the base idle, I also got a TPS of an 84 that does have an audible click. I got as far as setting the throttle stop and installing the TPS.
now here is the question: I started it up and it ran like crap, missing and stumbling all over the place, I realize I forgot to plug in TPS! so I shut it off and plug it in.
no change, still not running.
changed to old TPS... no change
Did I fry the ignition comp when I started it up without tps plugged in?
I see that the part # on the tps and its the same 84- 92, so the part was probably not the problem...
It stopped my in my tracks but I was suspecting the timing before this happened, now I cannot check it because it doesn't run.
is it possible that the rough running skipped the timing belt a couple of teeth? the PO had the timing belt done a year ago and I really doubt he followed up on the tension adjustment so I will pull the cover and check it tommorrow.
what else? fuel pump relay? (checked the fuses) would starting it without tps plugged in blow the relay?
any thoughts appreciated!
