Forgive me if this is a stupid newbie question: I purchased my '93 944T last October up in Chicago (so it's used to the winter). It now has 98K miles. I bought a set of Gislaved Nordfrost II's in anticipation of snow and installed them in December. I also read somewhere on this board that adding weight helps with the snow, so I bought 4 1/2 cubic-foot sandbags and put 'em in the trunk. I think they weigh about 75 pounds each, for a total of 300 pounds on the rear axle. When I purchased the car, I had it checked by a Volvo mechanic, and they didn't say anything about the rear suspension, and it has always felt fine, so I assume that it is in good shape. However, am I now in the process of destroying it by putting this much weight on it? What is the proper amount? And what is the experience of other brick owners who drive in snowy climes?
