Greetings from VA,
I have an 83 245 GL in which I've installed a center-mounted brake light (used OEM parts). I just received the associated "decal" from the dealer. It's a die-cut piece of black 3M-"scotch film" that is applied to the rear window to hide the center light's mounting hardware--its PN is 1343829.
I installed one of these about 5 years ago on another car (now gone), but this one looks different: While one side of the decal is the peel-off backing as before, the other is covered with a fibrous, almost construction-paper like stuff--this is the stuff I don't remember . . .which leads to the questions:
1) Does the decal go on the inside or the outside of the window? (last time it was outside)
2) If outside, I'm assuming this fibrous paper covering is there to give some "body" to the decal and make it easier to handle . . . but it must be removed after the decal is installed.
3) Last time I installed one of these, I wet down the glass pretty good (windex, etc.?), which allowed me to get all of the bubbles out from under the decal. Same thing this time? Is this how the additional paper cover is removed (wetting with windex, etc.)?
Any BTDT's would be appreciated . . . . thanks in advance as always!
Regards,
