Volvo O Z alloy wheel

I just bought a 1988 745Ti and it has a set of alloy wheels that the PO said were special order on his father's 245Ti when that car was new. The wheels have O Z cast into them with Volvo center caps. Does anyone know the history of this style of wheel? Are they really Volvo OEM, when were they available, are they rare? I've never seen them before. Thanks
