So I decided to look up all the info again and make another graph to shed a little more light on the subject of pre/post 1995 960 engines. What can I say, it was a slow day at work... :)
It's pretty self explanatory, bottom line is RPM, side line is hp/torque in ft*lbs. Red is the early models, blue is the later ones. All the data points are valid to the best of my knowledge, I just connected the dots. If anybody has more stats, I'll be glad to add them to make a more accurate graph.
I didn't note it, but the lines torward the top of the graph represent torque, and the other pair represent horsepower.
The interesting thing to note is that the later engine has 20 more ft*lbs at 2400 RPM, and while it does drop off sooner, it's not by any signifigant amount until my data runs out at 5200, only about 5 ft*lbs less up there.
So have a look, draw your own conclusions, alter/justify your driving habits, discuss!
Enjoy!
