Hello,

In an earlier post today I was asking about the bad 1989 ECUs. These have been identified as the Bosh with pink label and number ending by 561.

Well that is what I have in my 1989.

1) How will I know when my ECU goes bad ?

2) I checked eBay to see what you can find there in terms of replacment.
I see an ECU from a '89 240, pink label, Bosh ending in 561 for sale :

Does that make sense to buy another same unit of the series that are known to be defective? Seems to me that the answer is simply no, shouldn't I be looking for another compatible ECU known to work in my car as well but which is not a pink Bosch label ending with 562.

3) Should I wait until my ECU goes bad to worry about replacing it? Or should I grab a compatible one now?
