shudder when taking off 700 1990

I just bought this 760 prv v-6 and am trying to get it into "shape". It has a shudder under medium to hard accel from dead stop only and for only 1 to 2 seconds. I don't know if i should be concerned? Also seems to collect about a tablespoon of coolant behind water pump (just replaced) on drivers side top of engine. It looks like intake manifold removal to investigate. any comments on either subject would be great.
