91 740 hood - tin foil? 700

Hi
Has anyone run into…not just thin, but *soft* hoods on late model 740’s? I work with metal every day and some thing is really bugging me about this. Had insurance work done on the brick, hood was replaced with new from factory. Came to body shop with a couple of “outie” dents that had to be reworked. Car looks great but if you sneeze within 10’ of the car…the hood will dent! Improper heat treat? Are steel hoods heat treated or tempered?(I work with aluminum usually)’91 740 turbo
