Turbo Engine ?, Strength of B230FT versions, 'early' vs 'transitional ('K') vs 'late' 700

I'm still looking to buy a Turbo 740 Wagon, and ran across a website that explains the differences between the three variants of the B230FT engine, the url is

http://www.mcbrooms.com/volvo/fast700.htm

There is a 1988 740 Turbo that I kind of like, and am concerned about it having an engine that is not, according to the above site, as strong as the "late" (1990-1992) Turbo engines. I do not plan to modify the engine to increase boost, so will it still be an issue, or will the engine in a 1988 be just as reliable as a later one if left stock?

Thanks,
Scott
