'83 240GL won't start. 200 1983

When I turn the key, nothing happens. No noise, no click, to turning. This happened only once before, and in the meantime, the engine has been slow to start, like the starter or battery didn't have enough juice. I checked all the connections to the battery and starter and they seem okay. I'm not sure what else I can do before I have it towed to the shop.
