V8 conversion help/suggestions requested 200 1980

Hello. My baby is a 242GT... originally with a 2.1L CIS four. But soon-to-be a 1996 Chevrolet LT1 5.7L (350cid). The engine is EFI. I'm wondering as to the drivetrain. I'd like help/suggestions on the matter.

I want to make a car a manual transmission... but I've talked to a couple of people and they've told me that the only transmission that'll hold up to a pumped up 350 is a Tremec T56... I've been told that the Tremec T5 isn't strong enough.

ANY IDEA WHERE I CAN GET A TREMEC T56 without paying more than the value of the car?

Other than that, which is running kind of a hurry, I'll keep posting when I've got more doubts and need help.
