crankshaft replacement? 200

Hi y all,

i hope youre doing fine. i got some free seals and labor from the shop that almost screwed up my engine. they simply forgot to replace two of the old seals, one of which was leaking oil.

now, the question: the guy said that if the oil leaks continue, it may be due to a worn crankshaft that might need to be replaced. is it really a repair that costs more than the car, or does it just sound like it? also, do crankshafts ever need to be replaced? ive never heard of it before.
