I'm in the process of replacing the inner tie rod end on my '87 760. It's the CAM type rack and I have the replacement tie rod ready to install.

I the FAQ sheet there was a reference to 'staking' the inner tie rod with a punch. Is that necessary? The replacement rod has a flat spot where I can put a wrench and get a good grip.
