Oxygen sensor unplugged and it runs great! 200

My 89' 245 has been running just fine with the O2 sensor disconnected; smooth idle too!
While still a bit rich, it's nothing like how rich it runs with the sensor plugged back in. Yes, I have checked for vaccum leaks (none), the temp sensor, new fuel regulator, plugs, wires, cap/rotor, clean throttle plate and flame trap, adjusted TPS, blah, blah, blah.
What could cause it to run good without and bad with?

New sensor goes on in 2 days and I hope it cures my problem!
