Hello all-
I have a 1994 940 n/a sedan with Bosch fuel injection and EGR. (the VIN number confirms what I've already seen under the hood) I need to replace the cat I bought last year. The original Volvo (Zeuna Starker) cat had the number 1389966 stamped on it. It was roughly 29 inches long (28.75?). FCP sold me a 099-942 bosal (which I told them wouldn't fit because the one they sent last year didn't, but they insisted this one would) and it doesn't fit. I don't recall the number of the second one they sent last year which did fit, and I can't find my packing slip (I'll call again today... they probably had my name mispelled). Over the past few weeks, I've "googled" every part number I have come across and cross referenced with all the major online parts suppliers, and the inconsistencies of information are making it difficult for me to figure out just what cat I need to order.
There are two overseas sites that say that the 1389966 is about 27.5 inches long, but confirm that is the part from a 2.3l 1994 940. Most sites say a 4021 is for my car (some say its for cars w/o EGR), but also say it is 26.25 inches long (about the same length as the 099-942). There's a 4605 that appears to be the right length, but is listed for turbo models.
Another odd thing is that last year, when I ordered a cat, I also ordered a 13380 Bosch oxygen sensor. It had a different plug than the original, so I ended up getting a different one.
Do I have a frankenstein car that was built of whatever parts were plentiful that day, or am I losing my mind? If it helps, the car has leather seats and a sunroof. I'm posting this also so that maybe it will help someone else... I searched the archives with no hits on most of the part numbers.
