Glowing Alternator Light is Back 200 1981

The glowing alternator light is back. Current symptoms: Idling with load of high beams and fan the light glows a bit. It glows much more brightly with the engine at 2000-2500 rpm's. Glow is much less noticeable at idle.

Here's what I've done so far:

- Tried two other batteries.
- Cleaned alternator to block ground, five engine grounds, all headlight grounds.
- Cleaned fuse block thoroughly, replaced all fuses, checked for continuity across fuse block prongs on all new fuses.
- Had alternator brushes and bearings replaced and alternator tested. Later took alternator out again and had it tested by two different alternator repair shops. Both said alternator is fine. One shop said regulator wasn't working right. One said regulator was good.
- Replaced voltage regulator with new Bosch. (Possible problem: new regulator rode from the east coast to Oregon in the bottom corner of a 6"x6" box with padding stuffed on top of it only. No padding at all on three sides. Vulnerable spot in the bottom of the box. Packer was not thinking.)

Help me fix this thing. I'm thinking maybe the new voltage regulator is bad. I thought I had the problem fixed last week after cleaning some grounds, but now the problem is back.
