740 vs 240 700

I have an '88 745. Daughter has a '91 244. My car seems to have a lot more "pep" (technical term) than her 240. Both are Auto. She would rather drive mine, even though when I bought her the 240 she didn't want "the 4 little skinny headlights" or a "hearseback"(station wagon).

Does one have a different cam or something like that?
