Brake lights arent working on my 89 740!!! Please Help 700 1989

All of a sudden i noticed about a week ago my brake lights dont work. So i checked the fuses, everyone of them and the bulbs but all seems fine. so i also bought a new stop light switch and put that on and still nothing!!! Can anyone else help me?? i read on here that it could possibly be the bulb failure relay, so i pulled that out, but its a $60 part so i dont wanna just buy it and hope my brake lights will work. if anyone can help me that would be really really nice, because i am borrowing my dads car, and he needs his car so i need my volvo 740 working again. thank you any questions to help figure this out feel free to ask me!!
