Brickheads,
I bought a 1987 760T w/ 130k on it in 2000. It ran and drove like a champ for 3 years, but alas 205k was tiring the body out badly. I traded a friend an old fishing boat for a 1986 760T, that had 98k and a hole in the block (he forgot to check the oil/coolant levels). I took the 1987 motor and dropped it into the 1986 brick. It would not run right. No hot start and running like an American vehicle. Here is the basis for my letter: After reading you folks for 3 days, printing numerous posts and by the process of your thoughts for elimination, I found that the knock sensor and the coolant sensor wires were switched. Why do they use the SAME plug on two sensors so close together? With ALL of your help I put 4 sets of plugs in, breathed a lot of rich exhaust, installed a new (used) AMM, a new fuel pressure regulator, a new coolant sensor, switched out fuel injector assembly, loosened the O2 sensor and exhaust(thought the cat con was plugged). It was flooding the cylinders with tons of fuel and would only hot start after unplugging the injectors-and then would die obviously, but I persevered because of the vast amount of knowledge you folks possess. I knew you would lead me to it. Again thanks! and keep up the GREAT work and advice. BTW can you fix the US budget? Maybe a new AMM?
