Hello everyone!
I understand that shock/strut manufacturers make their shocks to fit a certain application (considering the vehicle dynamics, weight etc)...........that aside I want to get your opinion on "adapting" shocks (that are close/similar in specs to other cars of similar kind) to fit a Volvo. Here's the specifics:
I am having a very hard time finding Bilsteins for my 97 Volvo S90. I'll give anything to put Bilsteins on my car (for their performance, longevity, comfort etc)!!! (well, anything reasonable anyway!!). In fact about the only option I seem to have is the OE Boge shocks/struts. They are ok but I still want my Bilsteins!!! So I was wondering if I should try choosing shocks/struts that are as close in specs as possible to my S90 and have them adapted to my S90. As far as I know (and I have not done much research on this, I plan to) the problem seems to be the different size mounts that are on the S90 which accept only the Boges. So my question is, (if that is the case), how about having a good "adapter" made that would then accept the Bilsteins?
What do you guys think? Now, I know some of you must be laughing out loud and saying "this guy is nuts" But come on! It's a Volvo! It deserves Bilsteins!! Ofcourse if I do go this route, I promise to pay utmost attention to the safety aspect (hey, after all we love Volvos for that reason).
Has anyone attempted this? Know anyone who has? Write me lots of posts! I love reading posts/inputs/suggestions!
