Replacement of auto-shift cover on '88 245 200 1988

My 'new' '88 245 needs a new shift-cover, the old one is still there but shot.
I have a replacement, it was $$$ and I do not want to mess it up during installation. So, what is the best way to get the old one off (besides breaking it) and the new one on?
