Hi,

I have a 1979 242 DL with 404,000 original miles on it. I'm sure that speaks for itself but please hear me out. This car starts great, runs great, but there are a couple of strange issues. First issue that I've experienced is during the summer when the temperatures are about 70 degrees or higher. I'll be driving along, maybe at 30 MPH during rush our traffice, and the car will start to buck really bad, it almost seems like it is running out of fuel, but this will happen at either full or half tank of gas. The engine has died a couple of times because of this. When the temperatures are cool, this problem seems non-exsitent. Now, during the winter, temperatures around 40-50 degrees, the problem I'm having is not with starting, not with driving, but when I go to slow down. I can drive 10 miles on the freeway, or even a back road, and when I slow down, and put the clutch in and then brake to a stop, before I stop, the engine almost dies. It sounds like it cuts-out for a second, gives a shake, the dash lights come on for a second, but then it runs fine after that. It happened yesterday about 3 times, and it was only when I was slowing down to stop. What would cause such a thing? Is it cluth related? This is a 4 speed with OD. Is it engine compression? Fuel system issue?

Other than this issue, the car runs strong. Is there anything I can test? I've already had the fuel system pressure tested, and it apprears the fuel pumps are working great.
