Update on '94 945t Purchase Maintenance 900 1994

Hey everyone,

Just got back from my mechanic. Had a ton of stuff done to the car.

First he installed front and rear IPD anti-sway bars and the Cherry Turbo strut brace and lower chassis brace. (BIG difference)

Also:
-Changed oil filter and put in synthetic (I also put on the IPD oil filter magnet and the magnetic drain plug)
-Replaced fuel pump relay
-Replaced alternator belt
-Replaced the gear shifter bulb
-Re-seal dist.
-New dist. cap
-Fixed exhaust manifold leak (because OEM parts were not used when fixed before I owned the car)
-Fixed oil cooler leak
-Replaced oil cooler hoses
-Fixed the check engine light and
-Replaced the coolant sensor which was the problem I was having when idling and reason for check engine
-Changed rear end oil
-New plugs
-Flushed the tranny and filled with synthetic
-Checked for a valve adjustment but none was necessary
-Replaced valve cover gasket
-Replaced the heater control valve
-And lastly replaced the front bushings with poly (which made a HUGE difference)

After all this the car rides wonderfully, well it did before, but the main difference was in the changing of the bushings to poly. He says the car, at 85,575 should give me years of trouble free use. Next thing to worry about he said is the oil in 6,000 miles.

He also recommended to install a volt meter to monitor the battery because the alternator is original and I should keep an eye on it. Also recommended to spray some kind of sealant under the driver's side door by the front fender. He says that that particular spot, only on the driver's side is prone to rust because there is a "lip" which catches dirt and water.

I seem to have been lucky to find this mechanic. He tells me he was a master Volo tech and now he has his own place and he charges SIGNIFICANTLY less then Volvo. He also told me that like 25 years ago he was one of the top 10 techs in the country so they flew him to Sweden for a vacation. He is a really nice guy who doesn't mind taking the time to talk with you. And as I said, he has great rates. So if anyone needs a great Volvo guy in North NJ, I can give you his number. He's in Caldwell.

By the way I'm in no way affiliated with him, just a very satisified, and now loyal customer.

And thank you all again so much for all your advice.

Cheers,
Barry
