starter repair 700

can i repair the starter on my 740 gl. the car is about ready for me to fire it up. i pulled the starter while i was getting everything else ready. i had it tested and it started fine but the bearings were starting to squeal. is there anything i can do to keep this cost down? i am just trying to save a buck
