can i by-pass the oil cooler? 900

i dont like to by pass anything,but i have a very slow oil leak at the front of the engine and it drips right onto the hose causing it to swell and get soft.i've replaced them twice.it's either the front main or the oilpump seals. i dont know if i can repair this myself since the balancer has to come off.is there a hose available thats oil resistant.i bet this is an exspensive repair for such a small leak,hardly leaves a drop on the ground.how much does it actually cool the oil ?
