rad cap color 900 1997

Just wondering if there are different colored coolent overflow caps avaliable on 960s. Mine is grey and looks original, but I have heard of red caps as well. Does a color equate to the certain pressure? My 740 had a 16lb cap, and could use anything from 8 to 18 lbs, depending on the climate it operated in.

With American cars, the rule was more pressure to keep the coolent from overheating, less pressure to preserve an older rad as high pressure caps would cause coolent leaks in older cars. Here on the wet coast it never gets hotter than 85F or 35C in August so there is little need for a real high pressure cap. In Texas, things will be different I imagine.

Is an aftermarket cap avaliable, or best to stick with Volvo?
