Cam timing 200 1983

There seem to be 2 timing marks on my 244 DL's B23F engine for the cam sprocket alignment. Which is the right one? The valve cover has a notch right in the center of the plate molded into the front end of the valve cover, the plate that covers the back side of the timing sprocket. The notch is right at 90 degrees (middle) (straight up), when the timing cover is flat on the work bench. The other mark is a line-notch on the inside of the plastic timing belt cover (which has 802 on front). It molded into the inside of the cover, in the perimeter of the section that covers the cam sprocket. The mark is not visible when the plastic cover is bolted in place. It is the only timing-like mark molded into this cover, and it's about 1 inch from the notch in the valve cover plate. Neither of these two marks seems to match the description or diagrams provided in my Haynes or in other descriptions and diagrams shown on the Brickboard, tech tips, FAQs, forum histories, etc. Anybody know this particular detail on this particular engine? Thanks ...
