Alt light glows as car approaches 2500 RPM 200 1986

Just replace the rotted wiring harness on my daughters NA 240 a week ago and decided to drive it to work today to see if any problems pop up. The battery discharge light is slowly coming on as I approach 2500 RPMS. Voltmeter in the dash dos not show anything odd. As long as I stay under about 2500 the light is out. As I approach 2500 the light starts to brighten. I'll check the tightness of the alternator connections. What would cause such? Worn brushes?
