New 245 Classic! - Departing 87 245 questions (cruise control)

New to to us, that is - my wife and I just bought #1049/1600, sea-green, tan vinyl (oh well), wagon with 93K miles in great condition. I'm excited about the car, and a little jealous that it is hers to drive around. Not too much different from a regular 240, but it is fun having the special status - even though elitism is usually the opposite feeling that driving around an older 240 is supposed to evoke. I hope to post some pictures soon. It was well taken care of, and we want to keep it on the road for a long time...

...which leads me to our other issue. The 93 will replace our tried and true 87 245 that has 271K Massachusetts miles on it, and a warped head. I hope to mine the car for some useable parts. Already took the GL wheels off and put them on our 92 sedan. I am also interested in the cruise control going into the 92 sedan, but I've read that there is a different system for 90-93. It seems to be true - is there a way to install an 87 cruise control into a 92? If so, does anyone have directions?

I don't want to take too many parts off because we now have to get rid of the car and I hope to make it somewhat of a useful acquisition. The car still runs well, but a failed water pump caused a warp in the head (oil in coolant, and vice versa). The car has newer suspension and a recent exhaust, new water pump, recent brakes. Any suggestions for how to depart from the car besides donation? A DYI head job would be about $300 and the car could be on on the road again. It could also be used for parts. Any thoughts on the value? I wish I had more time for this, but I teach and we are in the middle of the semester.

Thanks in advance.
